To help you all get to know the voices behind the phones here at BCA, we include an Employee profile into our regular newsletters – where you can learn some interesting info about our staff! This month is Jason Gillott (aka OJ = The Old Jason).
Jason performs a critical role at BCA as the IT co-ordinator and Dispatcher. He is responsible for the scheduling and prioritisation of all service and project related work we perform on behalf of our customers. Take it away OJ…
1. How long have you been with BCA?
It will be 2 years in May this year that I have been with BCA.
2. What keeps you busy on a normal day at BCA?
A wide variety of tasks keep me busy each day, everything from answering phones, creating and closing tickets, logging warranty cases, booking BCA staff for onsite jobs and helping out on helpdesk and in the workshop when things get busy.
3. What do you enjoy most about your role?
I enjoy the variety that my role brings, I am constantly on the move in the office and am always being challenged with questions that need quick answers whether it’s from clients or from other BCA staff members. It also my job to know about everything that is happening in the office at any one time. I enjoy the challenge of keeping up with all current jobs and to instantly know what job a client is talking about when they call up or inquire about a job.
4. What previous experience do you have?
I previously worked for 2 years as a technician for a small IT company based in the Brisbane CBD. I was very lucky to get this job while I was still completing my Diploma of IT this enabled me to jump into the IT industry straight away after completing my studies.
5. What hobbies/interests do you have?
Latin Dance (In particular Salsa!!) and traveling. When I’m not working or sleeping I am dancing. I also get to attend quite a few dance events around Australia and internationally as well, so I am very lucky to be able to combine dancing and traveling together ☺
6. Tell us something about you that no one would guess…
I was lucky enough to be part of the Opening Ceremony for the Sydney Olympics in 2000. I took part in the Opening Ceremony for the football (soccer) matches that were played in Brisbane.

BCA’s Technical Director, Matt Carolan, was today interviewed by Channel 10 News for a story they are doing on Cyber Crime and Internet Security.
